You may be surprised to learn that I don’t really have any mysteries on my list this week. Not to worry, I still have a bunch of Agatha Christies on hold. But until those get checked out to me, here’s what I’ll be reading for the next few weeks:
Physical and ebooks:
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir – I’m already about 3/4 of the way through this one, and am thoroughly enjoying it. Science, space adventures, more science, quirky fun astronaut dude, a race to save the planet, more science, etc. If you liked The Martian, you will like this one, too!
The Heir and the Spare by Emily Albright – The log line for this one is “She’s secretly royal. He’s secretly loyal.” Secret royals, spies, mysterious pasts? I’m in. Plus, one of my guilty pleasure favorite movies is the first The Prince & Me, soooooo…..
Tithe (The Modern Faerie Tales #1) by Holly Black – I don’t know anything about the story of this one, but I really loved Holly Black’s The Folk of the Air series, and I’m hoping this is similar.
Audiobooks:
Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott – Part memoir, part writer’s guide, this is similar to Stephen King’s On Writing, but Anne Lamott did it first. I love doing it as an audiobook because she is even funnier in her own voice.
Blood Like Magic by Liselle Sambury – The idea of this one is a near-future fantasy with blood magic and cool tech, and lots of LGBT+ representation. I’m just a short way in so far and it’s slow, but the reviews say to get through the beginning and it gets faster.
Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim – A fantasy with magic, plus this one has a dragon! I’m going to get that item checked off my book challenge list. (Thanks, Amy, for the recommendation!)
