This week, I’ve been inundated with audiobooks that have been on hold on Overdrive. So I’ll be doing a lot of listening—probably while I accomplish other tasks, as Aubrie suggested in her post.
Here’s what I’ll be listening to:
Golden in Death by J.D. Robb – If you want a cop procedural where the good guys always end up winning, but the stakes are still high, you could do worse than the In Death series. This is the latest one (the 50th!), and the audiobook reader does a great job. The series arc is the story of Eve Dallas (murder cop) and Roarke (her super-hot, kabillionaire husband), and each book introduces a new series of murders for Eve to solve.
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang – I don’t know a whole lot about this one, but I put it on hold after reading a blurb from a Bookish newsletter that got me interested. As far as I can tell, it’s a story about a girl with Asperger’s who ends up learning about herself, and about love, when she finds the right partnership.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand – This fantasy is billed as the story of two women who may be goddesses, who have to prove themselves and solve the kingdom’s problems. Right up my alley.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – Yes, I’m late to the game on this one. No, I’ve never read it before. But with the new prequel coming out this year, and Aubrie’s recommendation that the books are SO worth reading (even for people like me, who don’t love dystopian), I am giving it a try.
Cursed by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller – An Arthurian retelling where the Lady of the Lake is the hero? Yes, please.
As a bonus, I actually also have one ebook checked out in my Overdrive app right now:
Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence – I loved his Book of the Ancestor series so much that I’m trying this one as well. It’s the first in his Red Queen’s War series.
